WHERE IN THE WORLD
IS SAIPAN ???
Saipan
is located near Guam in the Marianas, Pacific Ocean. Saipan is the
second largest of the 14 islands comprising the Northern Mariana
Islands, formed by ancient volcanic activity. Only six of the
islands are inhabited. Saipan's 47 square miles support a population
of around 40,000 most of whom are employed in service or government
jobs. The islands have an average annual rainfall of 100 inches, and
the average annual temperature is 83 degrees. Although the Marianas
have been inhabited since 1500 B.C., the first discovery by a
European was made by Ferdinand Magellan in 1521. They became a U.S.
Territory after WWII. The Marianas are a commonwealth of the United
States. Its residents are U.S. citizens. Saipan the most populated
island in the Northern Marianas, is endowed with blue lagoons, white
sand beaches and verdant hills. There are four golf courses on
Saipan, each offering unique experiences. Three of the courses are
built along the ocean and offer spectacular ocean views. All the
courses are within easy driving distance of any hotel on the island.
