David Chesley's Home On The Web

Welcome! My name's David Chesley. I'm the technology specialist at Koblerville Elementary School on the island of Saipan, which is part of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. My web page is in response to friends and colleagues developing their own web pages. I succumbed to the pressure to prove that I was just as big (or bigger) a nerd. This is the result.

Old Man By The Sea is one of the post card type vistas. Located on the eastern shore of Saipan, about a 15 minute walk from the road.

Saipan is about 15 miles long and 5 miles miles wide. Most of the western side of the island is protected by a fringing reef providing some soft sandy beaches. Most of the beaches on eastern side of the island have a small amount of sand with lots of volcanic rock providing dramatic shorelines.

This photo was taken on the northern end of the island at the site of some small blow holes.

In many ways Saipan is a small town trying to be a big town. Hotels, golf courses and shopping all cater to the Japanese tourists while the residents a simple lifestyle. Most weekends I make a trip to the beach for diving, snorkeling or to add to my shell collection. I've also managed to find 11 glass balls, so far. As a dive instructor I have the opportunity to visit with some of the more colorful locals.

This site, like my life, is a work in progress. The site is not under construction, but rather growing and evolving. Comments and suggestions are welcome.
