I live on the island of Saipan. Saipan is in the Northern Mariana Islands in the midst of the Pacific Ocean. (It's near Guam, for all of you who don't know geography!) Saipan is a beautiful tropical paradise with many interesting features! (Like lots of bugs: cockroaches, mosquitoes, spiders, moths, big ants, little ants, red ants, black ants, red and black ants, microscopic ants, etc.....)
I am a teacher at Grace Christian Academy. Grace Christian Academy is a private school with grades K through 12. The vision of Grace Christian Academy is to provide top-knotch quality education and introduce students to the Creator of all wisdom and knowledge.
Miss Swant loves teaching her first grade class. My twenty-seven 5, 6, and 7 year olds keep me on my toes all day with all their questions, shoes that need to be tied, and prayer requests for hurt elbows. I love each and every child so much. They are the most adorable kids on the island, and I am not biased!!! I love to see their faces light up when they read a story during reading groups. I receive at least a hundred hugs a day, so no one lacks love in room 7.
I am having many new adventures in Saipan, but I miss all those who are dear to me back in the states. I am a country girl from the Big Sky State of Montana. I love the mountains, hiking, and mountain biking. It's a big adjustment to live in 80 degree weather year round. I keep wanting to put on my boots and wool coat to go out for a good snowball fight. Instead we watch for typhoons on the weather map and watch the waves crash on the beach.
I miss my entire family, including my adorable niece and nephew, Rebecca (1) and Caleb Lashway (3). I miss all my friends at home and especially those at Northwest College. And last, but definitely not least, I miss my best friend, Jon Warneke. (Yes, he is my man!!) But thanks to the internet and e-mail we are all only seconds away from each other . . . . . . . . it's a small world after all. I hope all those dear to me at home enjoy this web page.
