This picture was taken from Banzai Cliff at the north end of the island.
The view is to the northeast looking out across the Pacific Ocean. |

This picture was also taken from Banzai Cliff at the north end of the island.
The view is to the northwest looking out across the Philippine Sea. |
| Bird Island is on the north eastern side of the island. It is a favorite
nesting site of sea birds. |
| The Grotto is just north of Bird Island on the north eastern side of the island.
It is a giant blow hole with three underwater entrances to the Pacific Ocean.
It is a favorite among divers and is considered by some to be one of the best
recreational dive sites in the world. |
| This rock quarry on the north central side of the island has one of the largest sheer, vertical
walls I have ever seen. This picture does not really communicate the size of the wall (most of
which cannot be seen in this picture). Thats me at the bottom. |
| This view from Suicide Cliff is looking to the north. Banzai Cliff can be seen in the
lower central portion of the picture next to the ocean. |
| Another breathtaking view from Suicide Cliff, this time looking toward the east. The cliff
plateau in the distance hide The Grotto and Bird Island from view. |
| This view to the southwest from Sunset Beach clearly shows the island of Tinian on the
horizon from which the Enola Gay flew to drop the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima Japan over
a thousand miles to the north. |
| My favorite view from my favorite chair at my favorite margueritaville beach (Sunset). Did you know
that if the horizon is clear of clouds so that the sun can be seen just as it dips below the
horizon, you will see a green flash at the instant the sun sets? It is true. I have seen it. |
| This is the view to the southeast from my apartment. |
