Hello. My name is Joe Aubuchon (pronounced ah-ba-shon).
I am a 44 year-old freelance software engineer
and consultant, a football fan, a scuba diver, a lover of technology, science
and science fiction, a not-too-serious runner, an avid reader, an occasional
chess player, the proud father of two adult
children,
and a very proud grandfather of a very beautiful and precious
granddaughter.
Like any proud father and grandfather, of course I have
pictures.
Both of my children are in college and their colleges keep very close tabs on me.
I presently live on an island in the Pacific Ocean called Saipan. It is a tropical island about 120 miles north of Guam, one of the Mariana Islands and the capitol of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. As you might expect of a tropical island, it is quite beautiful and I have taken and scanned many pictures of the island. I have made some of my favorite pictures available for your viewing pleasure.
I work on Saipan as the project manager on a large software development project. I work heavily with two software product families (COOL:2E and COOL:Plex) offered by Sterling Software which dramatically speed the software development process. If you would like to know more about my professional career, you can check out my résumé. Today, I work primarily in the development of software for a mid-range system, the IBM AS/400 family of computers. However, I am still heavily involved in PC technologies and have been since the Intel 8080 processor was introduced back in the 1970's.
I have been a die-hard
Kansas City Chiefs
fan since the late 1960's (I know that they can't seem to win the big one
but that hasn't dampened my enthusiasm). In fact, I was a season ticket
holder for ten years but accidentally lost them during the successful completion
of my last marriage. Someday, hopefully in my lifetime, they will
win the big one. Go Chiefs!
I have recently become a scuba diving enthusiast since my move to Saipan.
Through the
PADI organization and with
the assistance of my favorite, local dive shop,
Abracadabra Aquaventures,
I now have Open Water, Advanced Open Water,
Medic First Aid, Rescue Diver,
Master Scuba Diver, and several specialty certifications.
I hope to complete my Divemaster certification in early 1999.
